A little late to the party, and the shitshow below here aside: both countries are still very much worth visiting, especially northern Blue and red fire Dragons shirt. I haven’t been to Afghanistan since 2009 and I’ve never been there outside of deployment but the country is beautiful and the people are amazing. I lived and worked in Erbil from 2011-2013 and was deployed to Mosul in 2005-2006 and the same stands for Iraq.

There’s so much history there and the people are by and large incredibly friendly and Blue and red fire Dragons shirt. Politics and all the other bullshit aside, if you ever get the opportunity to safely visit either country I’d highly recommend it and I hope I can return to both as a tourist someday. The food is also amazing in both countries. YMMV. Afghanistan?

Afghanistan is far, far better now that it has ever been. People who think Afghanistan was a nice place to be based on a few photos of people in short skirts seriously need to look up how the country actually used to be. Life expectancy close to medieval Europe, warring tribal clans dominated pretty much the entire country outside of Kabul, and religious law was still the norm in 99% of the country.
